Music : Less than Jake, ANTHEM
If you buy one album this year, or even if your entire life, make it Anthem. So much thought and attention to detail has been put into every aspect of this record, from the intimate and emotive lyrics to the individual peices of artwork that accompany each song.

The album opens with 'Welcome to the New South', in itself and anthem, the lyrics plus melodic guitar undoubtedly stick in your mind, 'I've told myself that everything we be all right, probably about a million times over every minute of all of my life'. Furthermore it is followed by an unlikely love song, 'The ghosts of you and me'. The Sax and Trombone add a tinge of despair to the lyrics, 'and i'm just a moved on memory'.

The thing that's funny is that all the songs are really melodic and most make you feel like bouncing around and make you wanna skate, but if you actually listen to the lyrics they're pretty depressing. The songs all tell of the frustations, missed opportunites and tragedies we all pass through in life.

Keep a look out more the special edition album that comes with a DVD packed with interviews and the story of how LTJ were making ANTHEM, as well as behing the scenes bits of 'She's gonna break soon', followed by the actual vid!

Each song on the album is represented by a peice of artwork, and this artwork is pretty damn cool, with the likes of Chip Wass Peter Wonsowski and Shephard Fairey (ahem, Obey Giant)

Go out and buy the damn album for god's sake, what else do you want a buiscuit?

Reading: Melvyn Burgess, JUNK
This novel is an outstandingly realistic depiction to how two teenagers slipped into a soul destroying world of heroin abuse, crime and prostitution.

Tar is hopelessly in love with Gemma, however, Gemma appears to have more pity, than real love for him. When Tar decides to run away for good to escape from his brutal father and alcoholic, apathetic mother - his new start has finally begun. He makes decent friends and settles into a squat, and a daily routine. Nevertheless, his heart is still with Gemma and he misses her too much to live without her.

When Tar invites Gemma over to the squat, the quiet sensible lifestyle isn't what she'd expected and she refuses to be confined by the rules the other squators support...

The book is written entirely in the first person and each chapter is written from a different character's perspective. This allows us to get inside the minds of the characters and understand what they're feeling. Furthermore the character's personalities are so intensely REAL. We all know people similar to those that drift in and out of Junk.

This is an amazing novel, the kind that will leave you thinking abut it for weeks after you finish reading it.

Films: The Fright Fest @ The Prince Charles Cinema. PHONE.
Well, lucky me, I was sorted out with free tickets from Xfm to go see the latest Japanse horror flick at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, so I went along with a mate to see what it was all about.

The journalist Ji-Won is being plagued by horrific mobile calls that suspects is from her stalker that she exposed as being a child abuser. However, later she realises that the phone is possessed by the spirit of murdered Jin-Hie. Everyone who acquires Jin-hie's last fateful number 6644 is driven insane by incessant white noise calls in the vengeful ghost's quest to bring her mysterious killer to justice.

This movie is in subtitles, but still it is pretty easy to follow. I know your thinking it sounds pretty crappy, but actually it was ok. It has a brilliant scene in it where a body is found behind the wall. Plus it's got lots of twists and turns.
